Vendors cannot publish products or receive any payouts until a Stripe Express account is connected and verified. A warning banner appears across Inventory Management and the Wallet page until this is complete.

What is Stripe Express?

Local Pass uses Stripe Connect Express — a streamlined connected-account model designed for platforms that manage payouts on behalf of their vendors. Stripe Express gives each vendor:
  • A Stripe-hosted dashboard to view their own payouts, balance, and transaction history
  • Direct bank account linkage for receiving CAD transfers
  • Identity verification (KYC) managed entirely by Stripe — Local Pass never sees sensitive personal or financial data
  • PCI-DSS compliant, SOC 2 certified infrastructure
Vendors can access deeper transaction detail (individual payouts, disputes, bank statements) directly at dashboard.stripe.com using their Stripe Express login. Local Pass shows a summary view only.

Onboarding paths

When a vendor opens Dashboard → Payments → Stripe Setup, they choose one of two paths:

For vendors with no existing Stripe account

Local Pass creates the Stripe Express account automatically and redirects the vendor to Stripe’s hosted onboarding flow.
1

Select 'I don't have a Stripe account'

Tap the option on the Stripe setup screen inside the vendor dashboard.
2

Local Pass creates the account

We generate an ID for the account to be used during onboarding.
3

Onboarding link generated

You will get a time-limited URL and be redirected from the Local Pass to Stripe.
4

Vendor completes Stripe onboarding

The vendor is redirected to Stripe’s secure hosted page to provide identity, business, and banking information. All data entry happens on Stripe’s domain.
5

Return to Local Pass

After completing (or exiting) the Stripe flow, the vendor is returned to the Local Pass completion page. Stripe asynchronously notifies Local Pass when verification is approved via webhook.

What Stripe collects

Stripe manages all KYC (Know Your Customer) requirements. Local Pass never stores, views, or processes the following — it is handled entirely on Stripe’s infrastructure.
Local Pass never stores, views, or processes any sensitive personal or financial data. All KYC information is submitted directly to and held by Stripe on their PCI-DSS compliant infrastructure.
If you don’t have a website, use LOCALPASS.CA or your store link

Stripe verification can take a few minutes to a few business days depending on the information provided and any additional document requests Stripe makes. Vendors can check their current verification status inside their Stripe Express dashboard at any time.

Common issues

Stripe may require additional documents for identity verification. The vendor must log in to their Stripe Express dashboard to see what’s required and resolve any outstanding items. Local Pass cannot intervene in the Stripe verification process.
The entered acct_XXXXXX ID does not exist or is not an Express-type account. The vendor should double-check the ID from their Stripe dashboard under Settings → Account Details.
Incorrect branch, institution, or transit numbers. The vendor must update their banking information directly inside their Stripe Express dashboard.
Some Stripe Connect Express accounts cannot be connected to multiple platforms simultaneously. The vendor may need to create a new separate Stripe account for Local Pass.
