After your phone number is verified for the first time, Local Pass takes you through a five-page setup wizard. This wizard collects everything needed to activate your account — your driver type, delivery preferences, personal details, home address, and device permissions. You move through the pages using the Next and Previous buttons at the bottom of each page. Take your time — your progress is not lost if you navigate between pages.

Page 1 — Profile Photo & Driver Type

This first page covers two things: a profile photo and your role on the platform.

Uploading Your Profile Photo

Your photo is shown to customers and restaurants during active deliveries. A clear, recent photo builds trust and helps people identify you at pickup.
1

Tap Upload Photo

A media picker opens from the bottom of the screen. You can choose an existing photo from your gallery or take a new one.
2

Choose your photo

Select a photo. Local Pass automatically crops it to a square and compresses it to a suitable size. A preview of your photo appears in the circle on the right side of the screen.
Use a photo where your face is clearly visible and well-lit. Avoid sunglasses, hats, or photos taken from a distance. Customers feel more comfortable when they can clearly see who is delivering to them.
Uploading a photo is optional at this stage. If you skip it, a default driver avatar will be used. You can add or change your photo later from your profile settings.

Choosing Your Driver Type

Select the type of work you want to do on Local Pass. Toggle exactly one option on — turning one on automatically turns the others off.
Rideshare isn’t live yet. If you select Driver or Both, your account is set up to receive ride requests once that launches — but you won’t actually be dispatched any trips today. If you want to start earning right away, select Delivery. You won’t lose anything by switching to Driver or Both later once rides are available.
If you select Delivery or Both, you’ll be taken to Page 2 to choose your delivery method. If you select Driver only, Page 2 is skipped and you’ll go straight to Page 3.
Tap Next when you’ve made your selection. The button stays greyed out until you’ve chosen a driver type.

Page 2 — Delivery Method

This page only appears if you selected Delivery or Both on Page 1. Choose how you plan to make deliveries. Your delivery method affects the time estimates shown to customers and the geofence distances used when you’re approaching a dropoff.
Only one method can be active at a time. If you switch delivery methods in the future (for example, you get a car after delivering by bike), contact support to update your profile.
Tap Next to continue, or Previous to go back and change your driver type.

Page 3 — Personal Details

This page collects the information needed for your account record and for sending you notifications and payment information.

Required Fields

Fill in every field before tapping Next. The button stays greyed out until all required information is entered.
Your Display Name is the only name customers will see in the app. It’s shown on the tracking screen and in the delivery chat. Use something professional — your first name works well.

Company Code (Optional)

If your employer or a partner restaurant has given you a referral code, enter it in the Company Code field.
1

Type your code

Enter the code exactly as given to you. The field is not case-sensitive.
2

Tap Verify Code

A Verify Code button appears once you’ve typed something in the field. Tap it to check the code.
  • Code found → a success dialog confirms your partner has been linked to your account. The company’s delivery fleet will now include you.
  • Code not found → a dialog explains the code doesn’t match any records. Double-check the code with whoever gave it to you and try again.
A company code pre-links you to a partner merchant’s delivery fleet, which can mean priority dispatch for their orders. If you don’t have a code, leave this field blank and tap Next.
Tap Next once all required fields are filled in.

Page 4 — Billing Address

Local Pass needs your home or billing address for account records and for calculating the area you serve.
1

Start typing your address

Tap the Search address field and begin typing your street address. As you type, a list of matching address suggestions appears below the search box — these are real addresses pulled from mapping data near your current location.
2

Tap your address from the list

When you see your address in the suggestions, tap it. The field clears and your chosen address appears in green text above the search box, confirming it’s been saved. A brief Location saved message also appears at the bottom of the screen.
If your exact address doesn’t appear, try typing just your street name and number without the city. Address suggestions are sorted by distance from your current location, so make sure your device location is on.
This address is used for your account record. It does not restrict which areas you can accept orders in — you can accept orders anywhere within your city.
Tap Next to continue, or Previous to go back and adjust your personal details.

Page 5 — Location & Notification Permissions

This is the most important step in the entire setup process. Without location and notification permissions, Local Pass cannot send you delivery requests. Do not skip or rush through this page.

Why These Permissions Are Required

Granting Permissions

1

Tap Allow

Tap the large Allow button. Your phone’s system permission prompt will appear.
2

Choose 'Always' for location — this step is critical

When your phone asks about location access, you will typically see options like:
  • Allow While Using the App
  • Allow Once
  • Always ← select this one
You must choose Always. If you choose any other option, Local Pass cannot track your location when the app is in the background, and you will miss orders whenever your screen locks or you switch to another app.
3

Allow notifications

When prompted about notifications, tap Allow. This enables the ringtone and alert that accompany new delivery requests.
4

Tap Proceed to ID Verification

Once permissions are granted, the Proceed to ID Verification button becomes active. Tap it to finish your profile setup and upload your identity documents.
If you tap Don’t Allow on either permission prompt, you will not receive delivery requests. To fix this after the fact, go to your phone’s Settings → Local Pass → Location and change it to Always, then return to this screen.
Tap the Show How… button in the top-right corner of this page for illustrated screenshots showing exactly where to find location permission settings on both iPhone and Android.

What Happens After Onboarding

Once you tap Proceed to ID Verification, you are taken to the document upload screen where you’ll submit your driver’s licence, insurance, and any other required documents. Your account is created immediately, but you cannot receive live orders until your documents are reviewed and your account is marked as verified. This review typically takes 1–2 business days. You’ll receive a notification when your account is approved and you’re ready to go on shift.
