Before you can complete registration, you must read and accept the Local Pass Driver Terms & Conditions. This agreement sets out the rules of operating on the platform, what Local Pass provides, and what’s expected from you as a driver.

How to Accept

The Terms & Conditions appear as a sheet that slides up from the bottom of the registration screen. You can open them by tapping the Terms & Conditions link on the sign-up screen.
1

Open the agreement

Tap the Terms & Conditions link during registration. The agreement sheet opens automatically.
2

Read the agreement

Scroll through the full text inside the box. Take your time — this is a legal agreement. You can scroll up and down freely within the text area.
3

Accept or Decline

Two buttons sit at the bottom of the sheet:
  • Accept — saves your agreement, closes the sheet, and enables the Confirm button on the registration screen. A confirmation message appears at the bottom of the screen briefly.
  • Decline — closes the sheet without saving. You cannot register without accepting the agreement.
The agreement is available in English, Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian, Chinese, and Hindi. Your phone’s language setting determines which version is shown automatically. If you switch languages using the language selector on the registration screen, the agreement will display in your chosen language.

Key Points in Plain Language

Below is a summary of the most important sections of the agreement. This is not a substitute for reading the full document — it’s a quick reference for drivers.

Your Status as a Driver

You work as an independent contractor, not as an employee of Local Pass. This means:
  • You choose your own hours and can log off at any time
  • Local Pass does not provide employment insurance, health benefits, or pension contributions
  • You are responsible for filing your own taxes, including reporting income from deliveries
  • You may be required to register for GST/HST depending on your annual earnings

Insurance

  • You must hold a valid driver’s licence and current vehicle registration for any vehicle you use on the platform
  • Standard personal auto insurance policies typically do not cover commercial use — you are responsible for obtaining the appropriate endorsement or policy
  • Local Pass does not provide primary vehicle insurance during trips
  • Foot and bicycle couriers are responsible for any liability coverage applicable in their area

Your Responsibilities on the Platform

  • Maintain an acceptance rate of at least 80% to remain in good standing
  • Do not share your account credentials or let anyone else use your profile to accept orders
  • Treat customers, restaurant staff, and other drivers respectfully at all times
  • Provide accurate information during registration and keep your details up to date

Location Data

By accepting the agreement, you confirm that you understand and consent to the following:
  • Local Pass tracks your location continuously while you are on shift, including when the app is running in the background
  • Your location is used to match you with nearby orders and to show customers a live map of your progress
  • Location history may be retained for dispute resolution and earnings verification
  • You can stop location tracking at any time by toggling your shift off

Earnings and Wallet

  • A $50 welcome credit is added to your in-app wallet when your account is created
  • Earnings from completed orders are credited to your wallet after each delivery
  • Tips shown at the time of the offer reflect what the customer set before ordering. Additional tips added after delivery are processed separately and credited within 48 hours
  • Local Pass may deduct amounts from your wallet for confirmed fraud, chargebacks, or damages following a dispute process

Account Suspension and Termination

  • Local Pass can suspend or permanently terminate your account for serious violations including fraud, harassment, repeated cancellations, or uploading false documents
  • You can appeal a suspension within 14 days of receiving notice by contacting support
  • Any remaining wallet balance is paid out after the standard dispute hold period on termination

Disputes

  • Disputes between you and Local Pass are resolved through binding arbitration, not court action
  • You waive the right to participate in class-action lawsuits
  • Small claims court remains an option for claims within the applicable monetary limit in your province
  • The agreement is governed by the laws of the province you registered in

If the Agreement Is Updated

Local Pass occasionally updates the Terms & Conditions. When a significant change is made, you may be asked to review and re-accept the updated agreement when you next sign in. You cannot continue using the platform until you accept the new version.
Declining the Terms & Conditions means you cannot create or use a Local Pass driver account. There is no way to bypass this step.
