# Soon-to-go program

**Soon to Go** is a special label used on products that are getting close to their best-before date. These products are still perfectly safe to eat — they're simply priced lower so they sell before the date on the package passes.

## Why Soon to Go Exists

A huge amount of perfectly good food gets thrown away every year just because it's approaching a date printed on the packaging. Soon to Go is a way to prevent that.

When a vendor marks a product as Soon to Go:

* The product is still completely safe and good quality
* The price is reduced to reflect its remaining shelf life
* You get a great deal on food that would otherwise go to waste

It's a win for you, a win for the vendor, and a win for the environment.

## Who Is It For?

Soon to Go products are great for:

* **Tonight's dinner** — if you're planning to cook that day anyway, the shelf life is irrelevant
* **Freezer stock** — many Soon to Go items freeze well, so you can buy them at the discounted price and use them later
* **Budget-conscious shoppers** — you get the exact same product at a lower price
* **Anyone who wants to reduce food waste** — buying these items directly helps keep good food out of landfill

## How to Find Soon to Go Products

There are a few ways to find them:

### From the market home page

Scroll down on the market home page until you see the **Soon to Go 🏷️** section. This shows a horizontal list of currently available Soon to Go items in your area.

Tap the **arrow** next to the section title to open the full Soon to Go page with all products and filter options.

### Using the quick filter chip

On any product grid page (including category and subcategory pages), tap the **Soon to Go** chip in the filter row. This shows only products with the Soon to Go label.

### From the Explore page header

On the market home page, tap **Soon To Go** in the quick filter chips near the top to go directly to the dedicated page.

## Recognising a Soon to Go Product

Soon to Go products are clearly marked throughout the app:

* A small **🏷️ Soon to Go** badge appears in the top corner of the product image
* On the product detail page, a green **Soon-to-go** tag appears at the top of the image

Tapping the tag on the product detail page opens an explanation of what Soon to Go means.

    Yes. Soon to Go products are still within their safe consumption window — they're just closer to the best-before date than regular stock. The vendor has verified the product is still good quality before applying the label. Best-before dates indicate peak quality, not safety — most products are still perfectly fine to eat after this date.

    The discount varies by product and vendor. You'll always see both the **original price** and the **discounted price** on the product card and product detail page, so you can see exactly how much you're saving.
